If you’ve ever looked at the Richard Mille Bonbon collection and thought “Now there are some colours that would look good on a dial.” It seems Oris had the same idea and took the delicate and refreshing pastel colours and stuck it on their new Diver Sixty-Five “Cotton Candy” collection. They even gave it a full bronze case and bracelet making these watches unlike anything seen in today’s market.
While some comparisons can be made with the elusive Stella dial Rolex, the addition of a bronze case just gives the Oris such a unique edge. Not to mention, it is a production model (not limited edition) and has a relatively affordable price tag of just a little under MYR 10k.
The Oris literature for this watch mentions that it was designed to bring warmth and the optimism of better times. If the goal was to put smiles on people’s faces like with their first fully bronze piece, then judging by the online reaction of this announcement so far, it has been accomplished.
The watch sports a 38 mm case, a perfect size for both men and women. And of course, the bronze case will patina over time giving each of these watches an even more unique look. A word of caution, however, patina on the case is one thing, but to have patina on the whole bracelet might be a bit much for some depending on how the metal oxidises.
Unfortunately, this collection will not offer the new Calibre 400 developed by Oris but rather a Number Oris 733 movement which they say is Swiss-made and delivers the same standards of the Divers Sixty-Five collection.
The Oris Divers Sixty-Five “Cotton Candy” is priced at CHF 2,200 (Approx. MYR 9,860) with a leather strap and CHF 2,500 (Approx. MYR 11,210) for the version with the full bronze bracelet. These watches are production models and will be available for retail starting June 2021.
