If you have been on the prowl for a vintage-inspired watch that doesn’t quite break the bank, then the Mido Multifort Patrimony will be right up your alley. Compared to the other options in the Multifort collection, this one has a distinctively retro vibe and it has a mid-size case construction, making it perfect as a daily watch or even as a dress watch.
Although the name Mido was derived from the Spanish phrase Yo mido meaning ‘I measure’ the brand was founded in Switzerland. And thus, it makes total sense that the pulsometer scale on the dial would be in french. For those who are unfamiliar, a pulsometer is a tool you can use to monitor your heartbeat. As the seconds hand passes the 12 o’clock indicator, you start counting and when you reach 30 pulses, the corresponding number of the scale will indicate your heartrate in the traditional beats per minute (bpm).
The use of needle hands, along with the classic design and the traditional Mido logo in cursive, all work together to uphold the vintage aesthetics of the Patrimony. The only thing that gives away its modernity, in terms of looks, is the fact that the case is a mid-size 40mm. It would have been great to see this piece in a 38mm or even a 36mm case but in its current form, it is still quite acceptable even to those with smaller wrists.
Beneath the dial however, the Mido Multifort Patrimony is as modern a watch as the rest of their collections. Thanks to some internal R&D within the Swatch Group, Mido is also able to take advantage of the Caliber 80 movement, offering a massive 80-hour power reserve even within Mido’s affordable price bracket. And in terms of precision, the Caliber 80 is good enough to be Chronometer certified by the COSC, as demonstrated by the Mido Baroncelli Chronometer Silicon that uses the same movement.
And at a retail price of MYR3,350, the Mido Multifort Patrimony represents quite a good value proposition.
