Bell & Ross have indeed been producing square, aviation-inspired watches since 2005; but it is also true that for the nearly two decades of its existence, they have been constantly innovating this unique collection. They have taken the watch from the cockpit of jets into the deep blue sea and even the urban jungle. With the latest iteration, however, they decided to offer a new spin on a watch that used to be one of their best sellers – the BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic.
The first instance of this radar watch was launched back in 2011 and as its name suggests, drew its inspiration from aircraft radar screens. The new version however takes the initial idea and makes it even more evocative of its namesake in addition to several technological advances.
To make the watch resemble more of a radar, Bell & Ross has changed the configuration of its time indicators. Both the minute and hour hands still utilise discs showing an aircraft on the dial while the seconds hand has been changed into a sweeping line much like you would see on actual radars. These discs on the watch were designed to be ultra-light to preserve the power reserve while still being strong enough to not deform while being assembled.
The attention to detail here is amazing as the minute and hour indicators are represented by different aircrafts a jet for the faster of the two and a passenger plane on the other. Just like the BR 03-92 HUD, a printing is applied on the underside of the sapphire crystal (with a red anti-reflective coating), this time with the hour and minute indicators. And with the indicators on the top, the seconds hand sweeping underneath and the planes moving slowly on yet another plane, the watch has a 3-dimensional quality. As for the case, they chose the BR 03 family which offers a mid-size width of 42 mm. The case is made entirely of ceramic making it highly resistant to scratches.
The Bell & Ross Br 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic will be limited to only 999 pieces worldwide with an MSRP of MYR 16,900. Pre-orders for this stellar piece can be made on the Bell & Ross e-boutique with free shipping nationwide.
